Service Industries Branch
Industry Canada

Mr. Bradet is the Director General of the Service Industries Branch at Industry Canada. The Service Industries Branch helps Canadian service industries increase their competitiveness both at home and abroad. The branch partners with the private sector and other government departments to produce information products that meet the trade, technology, investment and human resources development needs, and influences government policy decisions that foster greater competitiveness.

In his former capacity as Director General of the Environmental Affairs Branch, Industry Canada, Mr. Bradet has led initiatives that required extensive partnership building with many federal departments, other levels of government and the private sector. These initiatives contributed to Mr. Bradet being presented with the "APEX Partnership Award". Mr. Bradet is for many in the Department, a model of an initiative taker, an enthusiastic executive and a partnership builder.

Mr. Bradet has held senior management positions at Industry Canada and other federal departments including External Affairs, Information Canada, the Unemployment Insurance Commission and Communications.

In addition to his professional activities, Mr. Bradet has always been active in his community - he was a trustee with the Ottawa Board of Education from 1972 to 1986 and was on the Ottawa Civic Hospital Board of Directors from 1995 to 1998. Mr. Bradet is now a Trustee of the new Ottawa Hospital.

Mr. Bradet received, in March 1997, L’Ordre de la Pléiade (Grade de Chevalier), a distinction awarded by l’Assemblée internationale des parlementaires de la langue française for his efforts as a result of his tireless campaign to ensure French language services are available to his fellow members of the franco-ontarian community.

Mr. Bradet received a Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences from the University of Rwanda (Africa) a Master's degree in Sociology from the University of Ottawa and an Advanced Business Management diploma from the Harvard Business School in Boston.
